Hi, I have recently built a poly pipe tunnel with 50% grade white shade cloth to cover my AP system. It has made a huge difference in keeping the algae at bay in the fishtank and also providing some cover for the plants. My question to you all is, is 50% enough or are others using less or more in their systems? Thanks for any advice given.

    Hi Fran,

The consensus in previous discussions over the years seemed to be that 50% was sufficient in most situations (you can over do it when it comes to shade cloth) and that white is the best option, both in regards to reflecting heat and allowing the desirable light spectrums through to the plants.

Hi Yabbies4me, thanks for the reply. I personally think it is sufficient as my AP has improved and all going well since installation but hubby has it in his head it needs more shade. So I can probably go ahead and purchase my Jade Perch now :)
