    Hi Yateesh, Welcome!

300mm is the recommended minimum gravel depth, with a maximum standpipe height in the GB of 250mm.

The beneficial bacteria that keep the fish alive, colonise the wet gravel. It's been found this volume of wet gravel gives you the ability to safely stock the amount of fish needed to supply the amount of nutrients required for healthy plants.

The shallower the gravel in the GB, the less bio-filtration capacity and less fish that can be safely stocked, therefore less nutrients for the same plant growing area.

    Floating Raft System (FRS)

What should be the dept of the grow bed for a FRS?

Should it be 30mm or less?

250mm is about the minimum water depth recommended in DWC (Deep Water Culture/Floating raft), with most people aiming for 300mm.
